French police shot and wounded a 34-year-old man at Montparnasse train station in central Paris on Friday, November 14, after he confronted officers while wielding a knife. The suspect, who police were investigating for domestic violence, then stabbed himself in the throat, and a bystander was also injured by a police bullet.

Mount Fuji saw its first snowfall of the season on Thursday, October 23. According to the Kofu Local Meteorological Observatory, this year’s first snow came 15 days earlier than last year — when it was first observed in November for the first time since records began in 1894 — but 21 days later than the seasonal average.
